BaFa’ Bafa’: Managing Diversity and Inclusion
Target Audience: Everyone in the Organization
Duration: One-day
Course Overview:

What is What is BaFa' BaFa': Managing Diversity and Inclusion?
A highly engaging simulation that allows employees to experience diversity by becoming a part of a mock culture. Utilizing BaFa' BaFa', the facilitator helps participants look at their organization through a “different set of lenses.” The experience enables participants to examine the values, beliefs, attitudes, and practices that exist in their organization and potentially present barriers to maximizing a diverse workforce. A post-simulation analysis and discussion help participants understand their experience, and relate it to their role within the organization. The experience also creates a new awareness of and appreciation for “differences” in the workplace. BaFa' BaFa' is an exceptional tool that opens the door for frank discussions about diversity issues within the organization in a safe and constructive environment.

What makes BaFa' BaFa' different from traditional diversity workshops?
BaFa' BaFa' is different from traditional approaches to diversity training which focus on EEO compliance typically designed to correct past discrimination. These approaches often result in unintended consequences such as resentment, blame, and hurt feelings; with limited impact on participant behavior or mind set. BaFa' BaFa' helps organizations implement practices that add value to the business and prevent potential acts of discrimination. BaFa' BaFa' is not a workshop that is taught, but rather; it unveils itself, and lays the groundwork for insight, discussion, and action by having participants experience diversity.

Objectives:

What does BaFa' BaFa' offer?

  • Awareness – participants expand their perception of diversity and become aware of how profoundly differences can impact peoples’ behavior and decision making.
  • Insight – participants gain insight into how stereotypes are developed, barriers created, and misunderstandings are magnified. They also identify other issues that impact inclusion such as communication, trust, team dynamics, and more.
  • Dialogue – participants are provided with a safe vehicle to discuss ways that differences impact the organization’s capabilities.
  • Identification of Issues – participants identify diversity issues that impact their ability to perform.
  • Solutions – participants develop strategies and actions plans for managing inclusion in the workplace.
